About The Artist
Welcome, and thanks for stopping by! My name is Amanda, and I am an artist. I am originally from Long Island, NY, but now live in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
Art has always been a part of my life. I started drawing at a very young age; my mom still has my first drawing of a bunny from 1997 framed and hung. For 15 years I dedicated my life to dance (which I absolutely loved also), and art took a back seat, but I always took art classes whenever the opportunity arose. As a child I would take art classes in school, at the art museum, and even went to a special fine and performing arts camp, USDAN on Long Island. There I took dance classes as well as sculpture, pottery, digital photography, graphic design, and painting. But my love for the arts doesn't stop there. I also love learning about personal beauty (make up, nails, hair), sang in chorus from the 3rd grade to graduation, played the flute in school, was a performing arts student with a concentration in dance, and took video editing; acting; modeling; and musical theatre classes.
I went to Mars Hill University for my two undergraduate degrees, Psychology and Art Therapy, and graduated with a minor in studio art. I took printmaking, pottery, sculpture, 2d design, painting, and drawing; one or two different art classes each semester. I also received my Masters of Science in Management and Leadership from Montreat College.
The arts have consumed my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I consider myself to be a "little bit of everything" mixed media artist. I typically work in multiple mediums, on different projects, at the same time. To me, life is short and filled with too many fun art mediums to just choose one. Every chance I get to learn a new medium I take it. I think learning different mediums also helps make my pieces unique. I love color, and could not imagine life without it. I love bringing color and fun into the world with my work, and I hope my art can brighten up your day doing so!
